This course explains the differences between abuse-resistant and impact-resistant gypsum boards, their types, and how they compare to regular gypsum. It educates architects and end users on product types, performance attributes, and helps in making appropriate product selections based on performance needs. Course led by NGC-certified presenters, offering 1.0 LU/HSW credit.

Learning objectives
Participants of this course will:
- Review the ASTM C1629 classification system for abuse resistant panels and minimum performance requirements to meet the established criteria for each Classification Level.
- Compare the performance of standard, abuse resistant and impact resistant gypsum products and identify specialized applications for each product type.
- Understand the definitions of abuse resistant and impact resistant products and the differences between these products and standard gypsum board.
- Review each of the four ASTM test methodologies that comprise ASTM C1629:
- ASTM D4977 Surface Abrasion
- ASTM D5420 Surface Indentation
- ASTM E695 Soft Body Impact
- Annex A1 Hard Body Impact
