Best Practices: Fire and Sound Solutions by Building Type

Overview

Course description

Designing for sound transmission through wall partitions can be challenging. In addition, selecting a sound-rated assembly that also meets the fire-rated design can be difficult to coordinate. Common strategies to control sound between spaces include the use of resilient channels, double stud or staggered stud walls filled with insulation and damped gypsum panels. This course will identify best practices to achieve high STC wall assemblies by building type. Code compliant examples and solutions for sound- and fire-rated assemblies will be reviewed. Led by an NGC certified presenter offering 1.0 LU/HSW credit.
