Waco, Texas, has Baylor Bears’ fever, and the fever has brought National Gypsum a big PURPLE® order. Baylor Stadium which will open next season is bathed in PURPLE eXP® Sheathing at the moment.
The 45,000-seat facility sits on the Baylor campus and beside I-35, the busiest highway in Texas. When the stadium opens, it will replace the 63-year-old Floyd Casey Stadium which is located away from the Baylor campus.
The new stadium includes 215,000 square feet of 5/8-inch eXP Sheathing; 490,000 square feet of Gold Bond® Type X gypsum board, 90,000 square feet of eXP Interior Extreme®, and 4,000 square feet of eXP Shaftliner.
The Baylor football program gained prominence with the success of Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III (RG3), now the quarterback for the Washington Redskins. He said in a recent news conference, “Baylor being at the top of the Big 12 and high in the
rankings is no joke. Baylor has never gotten the respect that I feel it has earned over the past couple of years.” Fifth-ranked Baylor has the No.1 offense in the country.
